History

In 1976, John and David Moger seized the opportunity to create a printing business to cater for the growing demand in London.
A combination of entrepreneurial flair, vision and investment saw the birth of Richard Edward Limited.
Both founders had extensive experience of working in the printing industry in different disciplines.  Their vision was to create an organisation that excelled in product quality and service to their client.
The transition from a family partnership to an SME business came with the successful contract win, to produce the marketing and communications collateral for the Silver Jubilee Walkways project and from there, the business continued to evolve and develop.

Increased demand and market opportunity in the late 1980’s saw the organisation take several key investment decisions comprising plant, technology and people.  A move to twenty-four hour production and a fully integrated offering secured deeper relationships with the businesses’ core clients in the publishing and public sectors.

After a move in 1990 to the current site in Thamesmead, a chillier economic climate combined with technological advancements and the fragmentation of media, impacted heavily on print volumes.  As over-capacity became increasingly endemic in the industry, margins were eroded and the need to differentiate essential for survival and a sustainable future.

In 1996, the now forty-five strong team, found a potential new product area by stretching the use of existing resources, producing playing and games cards.
A niche was discovered that complimented the existing product offering and created opportunities with new markets.

In 2002, the founders felt the need to plan for the succession of the business to ensure its future. The original founders brought in two new senior managers to take Richard Edward forward.  Kevin Scott became Managing Director and Louisa Moger became Marketing Director, both with positions on the board with equity stakes.

Since 2002, a fresh approach has been coupled with the core values of the business to produce exceptional results.
The company has grown its turnover by almost 40% and reversed a loss making situation back to profitability.

Today, Richard Edward Limited is a robust, sustainable, fresh-thinking business with two specific business units; lithographic printing solutions, and the manufacture of games cards and playing cards.
